Kids are the Scientists at Port Discover! Located in the middle of beautiful downtown Elizabeth City, North Carolina. Port Discover is fun-filled, hands-on science center for the kid in all of us!

Science Fair help sessions are available for students by appointment only. Please come with approved topics and teacher guidelines.

Port Discover offers Kids Night-In during the First Friday Art Walk.
Children must be 4-years-old and up to participate.
Space is very limited and reservations are encouraged.
Parents can leave their children at Port Discover for some kid-friendly science programming while they enjoy an evening of downtown art-walking.

The first Saturday of each month, stop by Port Discover (anytime between 10:00 am - 4:00 pm) for your own planting experience. Bring You Own (recycled plastic) Bottle with cap for a planter or build one with us.

Heather Fletcher, owner of The Cupcakery, will share her baking tips and the science behind baking. You don’t want to miss out on this edible, mouth-watering science lesson.

This program is just for preschoolers, ages 3 – 5.
People of all ages love snowflakes! Join us for a morning of exploring the science of snow. Children will make their own “snow” to take home!
Parents or guardians must accompany the child.

Who’s out there? Signa Williams, park ranger with the Dismal Swamp State Park, will demonstrate how to identify the signs of local critters found here in Eastern North Carolina. Use your detective skills to uncover the critters that have visited Port Discover.
